Cookstown and Magherafelt Volunteers were among a 100 volunteers from across Northern Ireland along with Minister for Social Development Nelson McCausland who officially launched Volunteers’ Week 30th anniversary year on 10 April 2014,

Minister McCausland met with the volunteers at Stormont and had the opportunity to hear at first hand some of their stories and experiences from their time volunteering.

Acknowledging the difference that volunteers make to our society the Minister said: “I am delighted to hear the inspirational stories of our volunteers and especially of those who have made a long standing contribution, some having committed 30 years of service. I admire their commitment and dedication to helping others.

“Today’s event is a celebration of the vital contribution that volunteers make and to publicly recognise the importance and value of the services they provide to others in society.”

Linking those who need help in the community with those who want to help.
