Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre is a member of the Association of Independent Volunteer Centres (AIVC)

In 2010, volunteering in Northern Ireland changed when the Volunteer Development Agency merged with 15 regional volunteer centres to become ‘Volunteer Now’, a centralised unit for recruiting and managing volunteers.
Six local volunteer centres took the brave step to opt out of this merge, five of which established the Association of Independent Volunteer Centres (AIVC) ~ Causeway Volunteer Centre, Cookstown and Magherafelt Volunteer Centre (now known as Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre) , Craigavon and Banbridge Volunteer Centre, Limavady Volunteer Centre and Omagh Volunteer Centre.
The AIVC is designed to protect the interests of a ‘people centred’ approach to volunteering. It is a well structured, strategically placed and passionate group of volunteer centres that want to keep their independence and ensure that local organisations help provide local solutions to local needs.
As part of Volunteers' Week 2011, AIVC members presented the Minister for Social Development, Nelson McCausland MP, with the highly anticipated Impact Assessment report. The AIVC Impact Assessment report, commissioned to independent third sector specialists Copius Consulting, provides a detailed examination on how each of its five volunteer centres serve Moyle, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady, Omagh, Craigavon, Banbridge, Cookstown and Magherafelt Council areas.
